Hoshiarpur wins state junior Football meet

Rupnagar, Dec 30 (UNI) Hoshiarpur district today won the 29th Punjab State Junior Football championship (under-19) organised by the District Football Association Rupnagar here.

In a close final match, Hoshiarpur defeated Rupnagar district by three goals to two. At one time Rupnagar was leading 2-0 in the second half. However, playing attacking football Hoshiarpur boys struck thrice in the second half to win the championship.

For Rupnagar, Vinod Kumar scored a goal in the 15th minute of the game while the second goal was scored by Mohan Chander in 47th minute. For Hoshiarpur Amardeep scored goal in 62nd minute, Paramvir in 77th minute and Gurtej in the 85th minute of the game.

Ludhiana bagged the third position by defeating Kapurthala in a match played today for deciding third and fourth position.
