Football tournament inaugurated in Kishanganj

Kishanganj, Aug 5 (UNI) Sports Authority of India(SAI)-sponsored East Zone Football Tournament got off to a resounding start here at the Khagra Stadium today with Kishanganj SAI claiming the first victory against Sukanta Kolkata.

Kishanganj District Magistrate(DM) M Saravanan declared it open and watched the inaugural match between the two, which is a part of a five-day event.

The DM asked the players to imbibe the true spirit of game and prove themselves leaders in their own right. Six teams from Port Blair, Assam, West Bengal, Orissa and Patna have already arrived at Kishanganj, and more teams are likely to reach in a day or two,SAI authorities informed.

Zila Parishad chief Sweetie Singh, Nagar Parishad vice-chairman Trilok Chand Jain and MGM Medical College Secretary Jugal Prasad Toshniwal and Director Dilip Jaisawal were among those present on the occasion.
