Ferroviaria enters semis in soccer tourney

Kannur, Apr 19 (UNI) Ferroviaria S/A FC, Brazil entered the semi-finals of the second E K Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup International Football Tournament trouncing Mohammedan AC Kolkata, 4-0, from pool 'A' here today.

Brazilian skipper Washington Luis and Robinson Michel scored twice twice each and ensured that the in team romped home confortably. They were leading 2-0 in the first half.

The Brazilian team, which swung into the attack right from the beginning, found no difficulty in making an inroad into the rival citadel with rare aplomb. The skipper Luis opened the account in the eleventh minute and saw to it that his team surged ahead by scoring another goal in the 26th minute to make it 2-0.

They continued with renewed vigour in the second half and increased the tally with goals from striker Robinson in the 53rd and 74th minute.

The Kolkatan team was all at sea against their mighty opponents, as they had no answer to the torrid pounding unleased by the team from South America.
