Euro 2024: Can Harry Kane and England survive the Denmark challenge?

England's Euro 2024 campaign started in the right way as the Three Lions secured a victory over Serbia. A solitary goal from Jude Bellingham was enough as they got all three points.

Gareth Southgate will be stoked with the result but the performance was not the vintage best from his boys. Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham did good, but the offensive play from the Three Lions was not that good.

Euro 2024

As the Denmark challenge comes up next, the obvious question arises if this English team can find the net regularly and create enough chances to score. The last time Harry Kane and co were at their fluent best in attacking was against Italy last year in a qualification match. In a recent match against Bosnia they won 4-0, but the opponent they will face on Thursday is a lot tougher one.

Euro 2024, Denmark vs England: Can Bukayo Saka and co survive the Danish challenge?

England will be the favourites but they will have to be wary of the Danes. Although they do have a decent record against their opponents, Gareth Southgate's men can't get complacent on the field. There were a few glaring mistakes made by the English defense which went unpunished against Serbia, but with the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen in the Denmark team, errors can lead to a goal.

Bukayo Saka was a livewire on the right wing and created chances from that side, but Phil Foden and captain Harry Kane were not at their premium best. Declan Rice at midfield was a class apart but his partner Trent Alexander-Arnold had a struggle at his adopted role.

As England look forward to playing against Denmark, the onus will be on Harry Kane and his troops to showcase their best side. England do have enough quality and class across all positions, but lack of cohesion and complacency can hurt them big time.

How can Denmark Threaten England?

Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund and their link up play can be a huge weapon for Denmark as they aim to breach the English defence. With two wing-backs, the likes of Hojbjurg and Hjulmand will find space in the middle and can exploit the sitting midfielders of Gareth Southgate's team.

Rasmus Hojlund's pace can be a big issue for them and John Stones and Marc Guehi will have to be aware of that.

How can England beat Denmark?

A big area which England can exploit is the wing play. With Kyle Walker and Bukayo Saka on the right, they can try and create an attacking scenario on that side. Walker has decent pace, which may mean overlapping runs from the England right-back to aid the attack.

Also, the role of Declan Rice with his ball-carrying ability needs to be enhanced. The Arsenal midfielder made 9 recoveries and 2 interceptions in the last match, showcasing his defensive solidity. The 25-year-old may have to stick with the defensive role, but a potent partner in the midfield is needed for Rice to thrive.
