English Premier League negotiates new overseas TV deal
LONDON, Jan 18 (Reuters) The English Premier League has negotiated a new overseas television deal which will swell the coffers of next season's champions by at least 50 million pounds ( million).
The deal is worth 625 million pounds in total and is on top of the 1.7 billion pound contract agreed with BSkyB and Setanta last May for domestic television rights.
Separate near-live, mobile and internet deals have also boosted revenues.
''This deal really does take us on to another level,'' Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore told the Daily Telegraph today.
''It means that the team at the top who got 30 million pounds last year will get around 50 million pounds while even those at the bottom will receive about 30 million pounds.'' The huge rise in television revenue in recent years has led to large increases in player wages and transfer fees in England.
