Chelsea beat Arsenal to win stormy League Cup
CARDIFF, Feb 25 (Reuters) Two goals by Didier Drogba earned Chelsea the League Cup with a 2-1 comeback win over Arsenal today but the match was marred by an injury-time brawl that produced three red cards and two yellow.
Drogba found the net with a 20th-minute shot and an 84th-minute header after 17-year-old Theo Walcott scored his first goal for Arsenal in the 12th.
A lively, entertaining game with glimpses of passing brilliance from Arsene Wenger's young side was also marred by a serious injury to Chelsea's John Terry who was taken to hospital after being accidentally kicked in the face by Abou Diaby.
In the extensive injury time played for that incident a dozen players from the two London sides were involved in brawl. Both Wenger and Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho ran on to the pitch to try to separate them.
John Obi Mikel of Chelsea and Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor of Arsenal were sent off - Adebayor inviting further trouble by refusing for a time to leave the pitch.
Chelsea's Frank Lampard and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas were both booked for their role in a distasteful end to a fine match which until then had been played in good spirit.
Lampard praised in-form Drogba, telling Sky Sports: ''He's special, he's the best in the world at the moment.
''He does it week in, week out and on the big occasions.'' Of the incident at the end he said: ''I came in to try to sort it out and ended up getting involved.
''People might say its disappointing, but when you play a cup final at this level...people moan about people not wanting to win this cup but that shows how much people wanted to win it.'' Reuters SAM DB2333
