CFA to admit next batch of aspiring young footballers
Chandigarh, Apr 9 (UNI) Children interested in taking football as a career can join the Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) which is in the process of selecting 24 players for specialised coaching.
The preliminary trials for the selection would be conducted in Chandigarh on April 18, where children born on or after October 31, 1997, and having height of at least 150 cm can participate.
Children of any state or union territory can participate in the selection trial, as there are no restrictions.
The CFA, which is all set to admit the next batch of aspiring young footballers, is a residential academy and the selected players are offered all facilities and provisions free of cost.
For the next seven years, the boys will stay at the academy and receive specialised coaching to hone their football skills alongwith education which is a essential component of this overall training.
The CFA, which was started in 2000, has produced a number of players who have represented Indian teams in different age groups.
The Chandigarh Administration is running CFA for grooming and spotting the talent in football.
Director Sports- cum-Director, Footbal and Hockey Academy, Chandigarh Administration, Mr I S Sandhu said that the final trials would be held on April 26 and 27 at Hockey Stadium, Sector 42.
''Other preliminary trials would be held at Football Stadium, Malerkotla, on April 11, at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Faridkot, on April 23, Guru Gobind Singh stadium, Bhatinda, on April 24 and football stadium, Dhramshala, on April 14'', he added.
