Brentford And Everton Draw 2-2 As Dewsbury-Hall Nets Late Equaliser
Everton stayed level on points with Brentford in the race for European places after a tense 2-2 draw, sealed by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s strike in the 91st minute. The Premier League match at the Gtech Community Stadium saw Everton come from behind twice, with both sides wasting chances in an open and physical contest.
The point keeps Everton eighth in the Premier League table, directly behind Brentford, who remain ahead only on goal difference. Igor Thiago scored both Brentford goals, including an early penalty, while Beto and Dewsbury-Hall replied for the visitors. Key moments included woodwork strikes, important blocks, and a standout double save from Caoimhin Kelleher.

Brentford took the lead after just three minutes, from a penalty awarded when Jordan Pickford challenged Kevin Schade following 78 seconds of play. Thiago converted from the spot with confidence. Everton then grew into the game, and Kelleher had to make a sharp double save, first from Idrissa Gueye and then from Beto’s close-range follow-up.
Everton’s pressure soon told when Beto levelled, heading in after Kelleher’s second stop fell kindly. The away side then created another huge chance as Dewsbury-Hall broke clear, but hesitated when one-on-one with Kelleher and failed to score. That miss appeared costly when Brentford went back ahead during the second half.
Schade troubled Everton’s defence throughout and struck the crossbar before half-time, with Nathan Collins also hitting the bar after the restart. Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite produced key interventions in their own area as Brentford pressed. The match swung repeatedly, with both teams committing players forward in search of control rather than settling for caution.
Brentford regained the lead when Michael Kayode’s effort took a deflection off Thiago and wrong-footed Pickford. The forward knew little about the touch, in contrast to the assured penalty earlier. Everton refused to fold, though, and substitute Tyrique George forced Kelleher into another save as the visitors pushed for a late response.
Everton and Brentford Premier League thriller highlights Thiago’s scoring record
The decisive moment arrived in stoppage time. A deflected shot from Jake O’Brien dropped into Dewsbury-Hall’s path inside the area. This time the midfielder reacted instantly and lashed the ball past Kelleher. The goal secured a draw that reflected Everton’s persistence and ensured Brentford could not turn their pressure into all three points.
Thiago’s brace continued a prolific personal campaign against Everton. The forward now has five goals in two Premier League meetings with Everton this season, after scoring a hat-trick in Brentford’s 4-2 victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium in January. No player had previously scored five times against Everton in a single Premier League campaign.
{TABLE_1}
Thiago reached 21 league goals for the season, setting a new Brentford record for a Premier League campaign. The total moved Thiago beyond the 20-goal marks previously achieved by Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo. While the penalty underlined Thiago’s composure, the second goal owed much to fortune from Kayode’s strike.
Despite Thiago’s success, Schade’s finishing touch deserted Schade. None of Schade’s four attempts were on target, including the effort that struck the bar. Statistical data showed Brentford ending with 2.37 expected goals compared with Everton’s 1.52, with Thiago’s early penalty accounting for a significant share of Brentford’s attacking value.
Everton’s draw also extended a productive away run against Brentford in league matches. Everton are unbeaten in the last four such visits, with one win and three draws. That sequence is better than Everton’s previous nine away league games against Brentford, which produced one win, two draws, and six defeats.
