Asom to meet Tamil Nadu in football final

Guwahati, Feb 15 (UNI) Hosts Asom will take on surprise package Tamil Nadu in the final of the men's football competition at the 33rd National Games here.

Asom humbled West bengal 3-0 while Tamil Nadu shocked favourite Meghalaya 1-0.

In the first semi-final, Asom forced Bengal to bite the dust pumping in three goals but in the second match, Meghalaya, despite playing a resurgent football, were unlucky to lose as Tamil Nadu's James got the winner after hitting the shoulder of one of the rivals' defender.

Earlier, cheered by a strong 15,000 crowd the hosts made several forays into the rival defence in the first half of the game but the Bengal defence stood firm as the two teams went into the breather 0-0.
