Andaman set to host 54th SGFI National Football Championship

Port Blair, Nov 25 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar is set to host the 54th School Games Federation of India(SGFI) National Football Championship at the historic Netaji Stadium here from December 5.

Official sources today said SGFI, recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and the Indian Olympic Association entrusted the 54th championships for under-19 boys to the Education Department of the Andaman and Nicobar, which will be hosting the event for the fourth time.

Altogether 26 teams from mainland have confirmed their participation in the tournament.

Arrangements were being made by the Education Department for the smooth conduct of the tournament.

Coaching camp for the host team is currently underway at the Netaji Stadium under the watchful eyes of a senior football coach from SAI, Kolkata, sources added.
