AIFF calendar released for 2007-08 season

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) The All India Football Federation (AIFF) released the soccer calendar for the 2007-2008 season.

According to the calendar, the supreme soccer body of the country will introduce a new international event called the ONGC Cup in addition to the other regular tournaments. The ONGC Cup has been scheduled for August, while the Indian team's preparatory camp for the Cup will be held from July 15-31.

The AIFF has formed a committee for proposed professional football league.

The committee will consist of representatives from the state football associations of Bengal, Goa, Kerala and Asom. They will function in cooperation with Federation secretary Albert Colaco and CR Viswanathan.

The calendar for 2007: 5th June: Olympic Qualifier, first window of inter-state club transfer. July: 61st National Football Championship (Santosh Trophy), July 15 to 31: national preparatory camp for ONGC Cup, August: under-17 girls' national championship, ONGC international tournament, September : Federation Cup; Sub-Junior Nationals; Olympics Qualifiers (September 8 and 12); AFC Cup -19th and 26th Sept. October : National Football League(NFL); October 17:Olympic Qualifiers; AFC Cup: October 3 and 24. November: National Football League(NFL); Junior Nationals; under-19 women's national. December 12 to 22 SAFF Cup; 2nd window of inter-club transfer; senior national team's preparatory camp for SAFF Cup.

The calender for 2008: January 1 to 23: National Football League (NFL); under-21 national football meet; camp for World Cup qualifier (Asian zone) January 25 to February 6. February 8 to 28:NFL;February 6:World Cup qualifier(Asian zone); national preparatory camp for AFC Challenge Cup: March 1 to 11; March 26 AFC Challenge Cup. National team's preparatory camp for World Cup qualifier(Asian zone: 20th to 30th May. June 1: World Cup qualifiers (Asian zone).
