AFC's "Vision India", development programme report in May
Chennai, Apr 1 (UNI) The development plan for Tamil Nadu as part of FIFA-inspired Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) ''Vision India '' project will be released in May either in Kuala Lumpur or in Chennai, the programme's acting director Brenden Meton announced here today.
Speaking at an inter-action session with coaches, district associations' officials and referees after a power point presentation of the interim assessment of the standard of the sport in Tamil Nadu, at the valedictory function here he said Tamil Nadu had a bright future and talent at the grassroots level which could be shaped up.
Mr Meton, who was the head of the five member AFC team said the development programme would focus on five aspects, including football administration, clubs and camps, coaching, refereeing, grassroots and youth and women's football.
Mr C R Visswanathan, Tamil Nadu Football Association (TFA) President, who is also Vice- President of All India Football Federation(AIFF) exhorted AFC to set up what he termed as a ''southern headquarters'', so that other southern states like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh could also benefit from AFC's development programmes.
