WR bundles out ER for 270 in inter railway cricket final
Patna, May 8 (UNI) With the help of 65 runs by Kanchan Moiti and 63 runs by A D Sarkar, Eastern Railway, Kolkata, managed a respectable score of 270 runs on the opening day of the final match against Western Railway, Mumbai in 52nd All India Railway Cricket tournament here today.
After winning the toss, Eastern railway elected to bat and scored 111 runs till the lunch break for the loss of three wickets in 35 overs. But in the next 31 overs they could manage only 83 runs losing two more wickets. At tea, ER was 194 for five.
The wickets fell at quick intervals after the tea break and four batsmen returned to the pavillion by the spinners of the Western Railway. Last wicket partnership of 32 runs in six overs saved the situation for ER and they managed to reach a respectable total of 270 runs.
On his way to 63 runs, A D Sarkar faced 160 balls and hit four boundaries and two sixers while Kanchan Moiti reached his individual score of 65 runs in 111 deliveries and hit to the fence four times.
The pacers of Western Railway failed to make much impact while spinners claimed eight wickets. Both spinners Shraiya Khanolakr and Nitin Surve claimed four wickets each.
Western Railway scored seven runs without loss in the last over of the day.
