WC 2015: India do an Australia as defending champions
Auckland, March 14: India became the third team to win all their group matches in a cricket World Cup as the defending champions. Only Australia have achieved the feat in the past.

- 1992: Defending champions Australia won 4 out of their 8 matches in the round-robin league, lost 4
- 1996: Defending champions Pakistan won 4 out of their 5 matches in the group, lost 1
- 1999: Defending champions Sri Lanka won 2 out of their 5 matches in the group, lost 3
- 2003: Defending champions Australia won 6 out of their 6 matches in the group
- 2007: Defending champions Australia won 3 out of their 3 matches in the group
- 2011: Defending champions Australia won 4 out of their 6 matches in the group, lost 1 while 1 match was abandoned
- 2015: Defending champions India won 6 out of their 6 matches in the group
