WC 2015: Bangladeshi supporters protest, media slams umpiring
Dhaka, March 20: Protests took place across Bangladesh after the country's cricket team lost to India in the quarter-final of the 2015 World Cup at Melbourne on Thursday. The disheartened cricket lovers of Bangladesh burned an effigy of Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, who was officiating the match along with Ian Gould, for giving a crucial decision that went against their team.
Dar adjudged a delivery from Rubel Hossain to Rohit Sharma illegal for its height while television footage showed it was a genuine waist-height one.

Sharma, who was batting at 90 then, was caught by a fielder at deep mid-on after he mistimed the full-toss but got a life to complete his maiden World Cup century. Rohit went on to score 137 off 126 balls and help India post 302 for 6 in 50 overs. The target proved to be too steep for Bangladesh and they were skittled out for 193.
The protesters shouted "Shame, Shame. No to ICC conspiracy" during the protest as Bangladesh's dream of making their first-ever semi-final was shattered by a clinical India.
The Bangladeshi media slammed the umpiring in their reports.
