Why Pakistan vs Bangladesh 2nd Test in Karachi will be played without Spectators?

If you are a Pakistan fan and living in Karachi, and planning to watch the Test match against Bangladesh, there is bad news for you.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced on Wednesday that the 2nd Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, scheduled to be held in Karachi, will be played behind closed doors without any spectators.

Bangladesh is set to play a two-match Test series in Pakistan, starting from August 21. The first Test will be in Rawalpindi while the second match will be played in Karachi from August 30. However, the PCB has announced that there won't be any spectators allowed in the Karachi Test.

Why PAK vs BAN 2nd Test will be played without spectators?

PCB announced on Wednesday (August 14) that the Karachi match will be played without spectators due to renovation at the stadium ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

"In light of ongoing construction work at the National Bank Stadium as part of preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made the difficult decision to hold the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, scheduled from 30 August to 3 September, without spectators in attendance," a statement from PCB read.

Fans to get Full Refund for Tickets

The apex body of Pakistan cricket also announced that the decision was taken keeping the safety of the fans in mind. The statement also confirmed that the fans who have bought tickets will be refunded soon.

"As a result of this decision, ticket sales have been suspended with immediate effect. Fans who have already purchased tickets will receive a full refund automatically, with the amount credited to the account details provided at the time of purchase," the statement added.
