Vengsarkar supports Tendulkar at MCA meet
Mumbai, Apr 14 (UNI) Selection committee chief Dilip Vengsarkar has vociferously supported Sachin Tendulkar when the issue of the show cause notice to the latter by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was discussed at the managing committee meet of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) last evening.
Vengsarkar, who is also vice president of the MCA, supported the master batsman's cause, a managing committee member who had attended the meeting last evening, informed.
''The issue came up and I was asked about details on the Board's Working Committee meeting, and why I had not backed Sachin. I informed them that it was the Board's unanimous decision to seek an explanation from Tendulkar,'' MCA joint secretary Lalchand Rajput said.
''I also told them that the Board had only asked for an explanation and not sent a show cause to Sachin,'' Mr Rajput added.
Vengsarkar also wanted to send a letter to the Board expressing the MCA's dissent on the matter but the demand was rejected by others, it is learnt.
Incidentally, both MCA and BCCI are headed by Sharad Pawar, who did not chair the managing committee meeting. The MCA meet was presided over by vice president Ravi Savant.
