Former Gujarat Titans batter breaks Rishabh Pant record days after getting unsold in IPL 2025 Auction
A couple of days after getting unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, a former Gujarat Titans batter has notched up a prestigious record in T20 cricket, by becoming the fastest T20 century by an Indian player.
Gujarat's wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel created history on Wednesday by slamming the fastest T20 century by an Indian during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Tripura.

The 26-year-old reached the landmark in just 28 balls, bettering the previous record held by India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who had scored a 32-ball hundred against Himachal Pradesh in the same tournament back in 2018.
Urvil's blazing century also became the second-fastest in T20 cricket worldwide, just one ball behind Estonia's Sahil Chauhan, who scored a 27-ball hundred against Cyprus.
Opening the innings, Urvil Patel launched an all-out assault on the Tripura bowlers, smashing 7 fours and 12 sixes to remain unbeaten on 113 off just 35 deliveries. His fiery innings helped Gujarat chase down the target of 156 in a mere 10.2 overs.
The knock was a perfect showcase of Urvil's raw hitting ability and cemented his place as one of the most exciting talents in Indian domestic cricket.
Urvil Patel was unsold in IPL 2025 Auction
Despite his recent exploits, Urvil had a disappointing moment earlier this week when he went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction. Released by the Gujarat Titans last season, his record-breaking innings could reignite interest from franchises looking to add a game-changing player to their lineup.
