Twenty20 no childs play for Pakistan: Shoaib
Lahore, July 24 (UNI) Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik thinks Twenty20 World Cup is no childs play for his team and vowed to take the nascent version of the game more seriously.
Malik, who was appointed as the captain after Pakistan team suffered ignominious exit from the World Cup in West Indies, said a victory in the Twenty20 event will be a huge boost for his team.
''We need to win in such a high profile competition to raise the team's morale before facing South Africa, India and Australia in back-to-back series later this year,'' he said.
Emphasising the role of physical fitness in the incipient version of the game, Malik said, ''To improve the fitness levels of the players we held a training camp under extreme conditions and hopefully the boys have achieved maximum success as far as fitness is concerned.'' Rubishing reports in some section of the media about the possiblity of mercurial Mohammad Yousuf and alrounder Abdul Razzaq being left out of the Twenty20 World Championship squad, he said, ''No such decision has been taken yet and a balanced team will be announced for the event,'' Malik clarified.
