Tight security arrangements for India-Lanka ODI at Rajkot
Rajkot, Feb 9 (UNI) In the wake of the Orissa incident, securty has been tightened here ahead of the second one-day international match between Sri Lanka and India to be played at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket ground on February 11.
Addressing mediapersons at the venue today, city police commissioner K Nytanandam said a strong posse of 1000 policemen, under the supervision of three superintendents of police and six deputy SPs, have been deployed to ensure that there are no untoward incidents during the match.
The players are arriving here late this evening and the police has made elaborate security arangements at their hotel of stay.
The police commissioner said tiffins, containers or water bottles would not be allowed to be carried by the spectators. Drinking water arrangements have been made at the venue by the Saurashtra Cricket Association, he informed.
To a question, the police commissioner said a special police team will maintain a watch to uncover betting activities.
