Three arrested for betting on cricket match

Surat, Mar 30 (UNI) Three persons have been arrested for allegedly placing bets on West Indies - New Zealand match from Limbayat area here, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, detection unit of the crime branch last night raided a house at R T Nagar in Limbayat area and arrested Manish Kanthi Patel, Jayesh Chandu Patel and Mahesh Jayaram Patel for betting on yesterday's World Cup match between New Zealand and West Indies. They recovered television sets, laptops, mobile phones and cash worth around Rs 5.2 lakh, sources said.

Police have registered a case and further investigation is on, sources added.
