Third Indo-Pak Volleyball Test amidst tight security
Chennai, Aug 7 (UNI) The third of the five Test matches between Pakistan and India here on August 10 will be played under unprecedented security, according to hosts Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association (TNSVA) and sponsor Aircel.
Announcing this at a press conference here today, TNSVA Secretary and former India international Manoharan said tight security arrangements were being made both at the hotel and Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium.
The IB would be coordinating the security arragements, he said and added that there would be gates for the match, the charge being a uniform Rs 20.
The Pakistani volleyball team would be playing in Chennai for the first time after the South Asian Federation (SAF) Games held in 1992.
The nine-match Test series, four of which were played at Islamabad in Pakistan which hosted the Central Asian championship, have been arranged as part of the preparation for the next major international outing, the Senior Asian championship in Indonesia, according to Mr Manohran.
While the first two Test matches would be played in Visakhapatnam today and tomorrow, the fourth Test would be played in Coimbatore on August 12, commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Coimbatore District Volleyball Association, and the fifth and final Test in Hyderabad on August 14, he said.
The Chennai Test would be telecast live on Doordarshan Sports channel, he added.
