Symonds amazed over price he fetched in IPL

Sydney, Feb 21 (UNI) Overwhelmed by the money he fetched in the Indian Premier League's (IPL) auction, all-rounder Andrew Symonds has found the entire process amazing and was surprised by the values of many of the players.

''If I could tell you why that would probably be quite a good news story, but there is no sort of logical sense to what each player's worth ... I can't see a pattern,'' Symonds said.

Symonds picked up by Hyderabad for 1.47 million dollars, which was well above the price paid for any other Australian player and was second only to India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (1.65 million dollars).

Symond's teammate and pace spearhead Brett Lee was the second most expensive Australian at 982,000 dollars. Symonds said he could not work out why his price was so much higher than other players from his country.

However, he was particularly surprised at the difference between his and skipper Ricky Ponting's price.

''That's quite amazing how that's unfolded,'' he said.

''Unfortunately it's got nothing to do with me but that just the way things turned out.'' UNI XC RKM AB DS1410
