With Gaurav ahead, contest only for second, third places
Chennai, Dec 22 (UN) The focus will be on the battle for the second and third places in the sixth and the final leg of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship to be held on October 24, with the qualifying rounds tomorrow at the MMSC track at Irungattukottai near here.
Delhi's Gaurav Gill has already sealed up the championship in the fifth leg last week amassing 90, 91 and 84 points, respectively in all the three categories: Formula Rolon Chevrolet, Formula LGB Hyundai and Formula LGB Swift.
In the Formula Rolon category, Chennai's Gaurav Dalal is strongly placed in the second position with 61 points. The contest for the thrid place would be 'four cornered' beteween veteran international from Chennai Akbar Ebrahim(38 pts), Mumbai's Ameya Walavalkar(36 pts) Pune's Ramyomand Banajee(33pts) and Hyderabad's Akhil Khushlani (32pts).
In the Formula LGB Hyundai class, Chennai's Ajay Kini is the second place with 66 points. The duel for the third place will be between Coimbatore's C Rajaram (38 pts) and young Ashwin Sunder of Chennai who is just a point behind. However, Chennai drivers Sudarshan Rao (29 pts) and Anand Prasad(26 pts) are also in the reckoning.
In the Formula LGB Swift category, the race for the second and third places will be a three way contest between Saahil Shelar from Mumbai (57 pts) and Chennai's Ajay Kini(55pts), Ashwin Sunder (54pts) and C Rajaram (53pts), respectively.
