Sourav rested for second ODI due to injury

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) Former captain Saurav Ganguly has been ruled out for the second ODI against Australia due to a right hamstring injury which he sustained during the first match of the series yesterday.

''An MRI scan was performed on Sourav's right hamstring this morning and no injury was found to the region (neither soft tissue swelling/oedema, muscle fibre tears or any similar derangements).

''Based on these findings more vigorous rehab approach will be commencing immediately,'' BCCI Secretary, Niranjan Shah said in a release.

He, however added that on team physio John Gloster's advice the Bengal southpaw has been rested for the next match on Tuesday to avoid any further damage to his injury.

''On report of Team Physio John Gloster's initial findings and those of the investigations undertaken, the team management feels that Sourav will progress quickly and hence it was decided to give him one game rest, in the second ODI at Kochi,'' Shah said.
