Sohail Tanvir will replace Shoaib Akhtar

Karachi, Sep 8 (UNI) Left arm medium fast bowler Sohail Tanvir will make his debut to replace Shoaib Akhtar in the Pakistan cricket team for the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup starting from September 11 to 25 in South Africa.

Shoaib was recalled by the Pakistan Cricket Board for hitting fellow paceman Mohammad Asif with a bat during a practice session.

Chief Selector Salahuddin Ahmed told the 'Dawn', ''Sohail was picked for his excellent bowling during the second match between Pakistan 'A' and Australia 'A' at Sheikhupura on Friday.'' Sohail, who failed to take any wickets in the first match in Lahore while conceding 40 runs, finished with four for 47 in the seven overs that he bowled. The Rawalpindi-based Sohail was selected while bypassing another fast bowler Najaf Shah, who also hails from Rawalpindi.
