Senate committee demands end to ad hocism in PCB
Lahore, June 27 (UNI) Blaming the ad-hocism in the PCB for all the ills ailing Pakistan cricket, all members of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports including the treasury benches and the opposition have passed a unanimous resolution, urging an immediate implementation of the constitution.
The standing committee which met at Islamabad and had summoned the PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf, has demanded dispensing off with the ad-hocism immediately.
''The PCS Chairman has assured me the new Constitution will be placed before the Senate Committee as soon as possible,'' chairman of the standing committee Chaudhary Zafar Iqbal was quoted as saying by 'Daily Times'.
Senator Enver Baig moved the resolution which was endorsed by all including state minister Tariq Azeem, the sources said.
The committee members also expressed their concern that since the PCB authorities had been claiming the new draft of the constitution was with the federal law department, the federal Attorney General in a press report had disclosed that it was not in their record.
The PCB chairman, who could not attend the ICC meeting in England, was in a spot of bother when the standing committee wanted to know the exact details of salaries of the staff and its total staff strength following PCB's sacking of 27 employees earlier this year and recruiting 76 more Zafar Iqbal instructed the PCB to also provide the details of salaries in the next meeting.
