Sehwag survives injury scare at team practice

Bangalore, Feb 25 (PTI) Opener Virender Sehwag todaysurvived an injury scare after being hit on his ribs by alocal fast bowler during the Indian cricket team''s practicesession ahead of the much-anticipated World Cup clash againstEngland on Sunday.

Sehwag was one of the first to take strike at the nets atthe National Cricket Academy and his batting session was cutshort when a rising delivery from a local boy hit him on theleft rib cage.

He was taken to the dressing room immediately butfortunately for India, nothing serious was found. He laterwent to the gymnasium and also joined back the trainingsession.

Team Manager Ranjib Biswal spoke to media and cleared theair about Sehwag''s injury

"He is fit to play. There was no need to even go forscans," Biswal told reporters.

Before the batting and bowling session, the Indiancricketers played football for about 45 minutes.

Later, the batsmen practised with plastic balls and alsohad a catching practice session.
