Sehwag powers ONGC to the semifinal of DDCA Hot Weather Tournament
New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) Team India discard Virender Sehwag blasted a 21-ball 55 and then took two wickets for five runs as ONGC defeated Subhania Club by 118 runs to storm into the semi-finals of the DDCA Hot Weather Cricket Tournament here today.
The explosive Delhi bat, who had made 168 in the last match, took over from where he had left after ONGC were put into bat by Subhania Club. Sehwag took just 26 minutes to reach his half-century which was studded with four sixes and six fours as ONGC posted a mammoth 255 for six in just 35 overs.
The other scorers for ONGC were Sandeep Sharma (64) and Radhey Shyam Gupta (62). Rahul Mehta took three for 47 while Jitendra Gulia scalped two for 33.
Subhania Club looked never in the hunt and only Kamal Beniwal (29) and Nodip Tomar (25) put up some resistace against the star-studded ONGC attack. Sehwag (two for five in three overs) and Amit Bhandari (two for 30) ran through the rival batting lineup and Sunbhania could muster only 137 for nine.
Sehwag recieved his second successive Man of the Match award.
ONGC will take on and Food Corporation of India at Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium in the semi-final tomorrow.
