Security tightened for India-SL ODI in Goa
Margao, Feb 12 (UNI) Adequate security arrangements have been made by the Goa police to ensure smooth conduct of the third One-Day International(ODI) cricket match beaten India and Sri Lanka on Wednesday at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Fatorda, in South Goa.
The South Goa Superintendent of Police, Mr Shekar Prabhudessai told UNI today, around 1,500 posse of State police, two companies of CISF personnel and 150 tops security personnel from Mumbai will guard the stadium and the hotel, where both the teams will stay.
Expecting the stadium to be house-full, special care had been taken to avoid gatecrash. Barricades have been erected 100 meters away from the stadium wall. The Top security will guard all the gates, besides police personnel in civil dresses will patroll at all the six entry points of the stadium.
''We would see that the valid ticket and pass holders get proper entry into the stadium on the day of the match and unnecessary crowding will be prevented at one point. Enough precaution will be taken to prevent any untoward incident,'' Prabhudessai said.
We will check all ticket and pass holders for their validity by use of UV lamp and hence any one carrying a duplicate ticket can be instantly nabbed at the entry point, he added.
The spectators will not be allowed to take water bottles, tiffin containers inside the stadium.
