Sarfaraz Khan celebrates brother Musheer Khan's U19 World Cup feat, hits back at selectors with India A hundred

Sarfaraz Khan hit an India A hundred on the same day his younger brother Musheer Khan scored a blazing century in India U19's big win against Ireland in the ongoing U19 World Cup 2024.

On Thursday, January 25, Musheer Khan scored 118 runs off 106 balls to fire India to 301/7 at the end of 50 overs in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Some 7600 kilometres away in Ahmedabad, his elder brother hit a hundred of his own to celebrate his brother's massive feat and put India A in a strong position against England Lions.

Sarfaraz Khan hits hundred days after India snub

The 26-year-old scored 161 runs off just 160 balls on Day 2 of the second unofficial Test against England Lions. His knock helped India A take a 337-run lead.

The hundred from the right-hand side came immediately after Rajat Patidar was preferred over as Virat Kohli's replacement for the first two Tests of the ongoing 5-match series against England.

Interestingly, Patidar scored 151 runs in the first innings of the first Unofficial Test, before being called into the senior team. Sarfaraz Khan scored four in the first innings, and 55 in the second innings of the 1st Unofficial Test.

Musheer Khan's hundred hands India U19 big win vs Ireland

Sarfaraz Khan's 18-year-old brother Musheer perfectly timed his innings against Ireland in India's second match of the Under-19 World Cup 2024. Musheer brought up his hundred off 66 balls, and scored the next 50 runs off 34 balls only.

He finished at 118 from 106 balls to propel India to 301/7. The innings consisted of nine fours and four sixes. India bundled out Ireland U19 for 100 runs and won the match by 201 runs.

Sarfaraz Khan was part of India's U19 World Cup 2014 squad which also featured Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Yadav and Shreyas Iyer. He was one of the four India batters to score 200 or more runs in the tournament. He scored 200 runs in six matches at an average of 70.33 and a strike rate of 105.50.
