RR IPL 2025 Auction: Rajasthan Royals Best Playing XI, Impact Player after Mega Auction

Rajasthan Royals retained six players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. RR entered the auction with a purse value of only Rs. 41 crores, which was the lowest among the ten franchises. However, the Royals managed to build a strong squad of 20 players for the next season, as they bought 14 players along with their six retained players. After the auction RR have a remaining purse value of Rs. 30 lakhs and two overseas players slot empty.

The Indian Premier League's 2025 mega auction, conducted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25, sparked an unprecedented bidding spectacle. Featuring 577 players in contention, 182 players were ultimately sold for a staggering Rs. 639.15 crores, with 8 right-to-match cards utilized. The auction dramatically exceeded expectations, with prominent cricketers like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer securing such record-breaking prices, which were, to date, unprecedented.

Before the auction, RR kept their batting line-up intact by retaining players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer. Hence, in the auction, they focused on bolstering their bowling attack by signing multiple star bowlers and all-rounders like Tushar Deshpande, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, Mahesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Kwena Maphaka. The inclusion of Nitish Rana will also increase their batting depth.

Interestingly, most of RR’s top buys were focused on strengthening the bowling prowess. The English all-rounder, Jofra Archer was their most expensive buy, who cost Rs. 12.5 crores. Followed by former CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande. The third and fourth spots went to Sri Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. Former KKR vice-captain Nitish Rana was another intelligent signing by RR, whom they got for Rs. 4.2 crores. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 13-year-old Indian prodigy cricketer also picked up by RR for a price of Rs. 1.1 crores, after a long bidding war with other franchises.

In the lower middle order, they will have multiple options like Shimron Hetmyer, Jofra Archer and Wanindu Hasaranga. Maheesh Theekshana is going to be the main spinner of the team. In pace bowling, they will again have multiple options as they have numerous quality pacers in the squad.
