Rodrigues congratulates Indian team for ODI victory

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory Chandigarh, Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues congratulated Team India for their victory in the fourth ODI against Australia at the Sector 16 cricket stadium here today.

''The Indian players played well and deserve our appreciation,'' he said after the match which India won by eight runs.

He expessed his gratitude to the organisers for making sincere efforts in making this spectacular show a success and to the spectators for their enthusiastic and disciplined response to the event held after 14 years in this stadium. Gen Rodrigues said the match had revived the tradition of holding international cricket matches in the City Beautiful.

He hoped that this victory would inspire the youth, for achieving excellence in this game.
