Rishabh Pant Injury Update: What Happened to LSG Captain as he Got Retired Hurt in RCB match? Will he Bat Again?
In the IPL 2026 Match 23 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 15, 2026, LSG captain Rishabh Pant retired hurt early in his team's innings.
RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first on a good batting surface with minimal grass. LSG, unchanged, sent Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram to open. Markram fell for 12 off Rasikh Dar in the fourth over, bringing Pant.

RCB vs LSG: What Happened to Rishabh Pant?
In the fifth over, bowled by Josh Hazlewood, Pant attempted a pull against a short ball but was struck flush on the elbow. He showed immediate discomfort. The physio came out, but Pant's body language made it clear he was in serious pain. He retired hurt and walked off the field looking gutted. At that stage, LSG were 35/1 after six overs (Powerplay). Nicholas Pooran walked in next.
This was a major blow for LSG. Pant, who had scored 103 runs in five innings this season at a strike rate of 125.60, is their anchor and finisher. His absence disrupted momentum; Pooran was dismissed cheaply for 1 soon after, leaving Ayush Badoni to join Marsh. RCB's pacers - Hazlewood, Rasikh Dar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar - kept the scoring under 6 runs per over in the Powerplay.
Can Rishabh Pant bat Again?
Since Pant retired hurt (not out), he remains eligible to return later in the innings if he recovers enough and the team needs him. Pant's elbow injury added to LSG's early-season concerns after his opening experiment failed in the previous match against DC. No immediate update on severity is available, but any serious injury will be a massive blow for the Super Giants.
Incidentally, LSG may have pacer Mayank Yadav back in action as he is in the Impact Player bench and has been tipped to take part.
