RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025: Arshdeep Singh Makes History! Shatters RCB Top-Order To Achieve Huge IPL Feat

RCB vs PBKS: It was a landmark night for Arshdeep Singh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as the left-arm seamer made history during the rain-curtailed IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

After a delay of 2 hours and 15 minutes due to persistent rain, the match was eventually reduced to 14 overs per side-and Arshdeep made every delivery count.

RCB vs PBKS

Once PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first, Arshdeep took center stage by striking in the very first over. He removed Philip Salt, who looked to be the early aggressor, and then returned in the third over to deliver a massive blow by dismissing Virat Kohli for just a single run. The double strike in the powerplay put RCB on the back foot and gave Punjab a strong grip on the contest.

But beyond the match scenario, Arshdeep's twin breakthroughs carried historical significance. With those wickets, he surpassed Piyush Chawla's long-standing record to become Punjab Kings' all-time leading wicket-taker in the IPL, now sitting at 86 wickets in 72 matches. Chawla had previously held the record with 84 wickets in 87 games for the franchise.

Interestingly, all of the top seven wicket-takers for Punjab Kings are Indian bowlers-a testament to the depth of domestic bowling talent the franchise has relied on over the years. Notable names on the list include Sandeep Sharma, Axar Patel, and Mohammed Shami.

Arshdeep's journey with PBKS began back in 2019 when he was snapped up for just ₹20 lakh. Since then, he's developed into a cornerstone of the franchise's pace unit. Ahead of the 2022 mega auction, Punjab showed faith by retaining him for ₹4 crore. Though the 2025 season saw them opt not to retain him initially, PBKS used the Right to Match (RTM) card to bring him back for a whopping ₹18 crore during the auction held in Jeddah.

Arshdeep's IPL performances have paralleled his international rise. He is now India's leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, having claimed 99 wickets in 63 matches, further underlining his reputation as one of the most dependable white-ball bowlers in the country.
