RCB vs GT: What Happened to Venkatesh Iyer?

In the very first over, Venkatesh Iyer had a muscular issue, as it seems. The batter felt some pain and called the physio to come in. After a bit of medical attention, Venkatesh continues to bat and has already hit a six and three boundaries. But despite that, the player is limping and looks in pain.

It is unclear if the player has pulled up his hamstring or has a cramp. But the player was attended by RCB physio at the end of 2nd over and had his shoe lace tightened as well after a few readjustments.

Gujarat Titans' batting in the IPL 2026 final struggled against a disciplined RCB attack. Batting first after losing the toss at Narendra Modi Stadium, GT managed just 155/8 in 20 overs.

Openers Shubman Gill (10 off 8) and Sai Sudharsan (12 off 12) fell early to Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, leaving GT at 26/2. Nishant Sindhu (20 off 18) and Jos Buttler (19 off 23) tried to stabilize but fell to Rasikh Salam Dar and Krunal Pandya respectively.

Washington Sundar anchored with a gritty 50 off 37 balls (5 fours), while late cameos from Arshad Khan (15 off 6, including 2 sixes) and others added some momentum. However, regular breakthroughs restricted GT. Rasikh claimed 3/27, Hazlewood and Kumar took 2 wickets each, and Krunal got 1.
