Rain plays spoil sport in Punjab, Haryana Ranji match

Mohali, Feb 10 (UNI) Rain restricted play to just 45 minutes, in which Haryana scored 35 without loss against hosts Punjab, in their opening one-day North Zone Ranji Trophy tie at the PCA stadium here today.

Both teams were awarded two points each.

Punjab won the toss and, in their quest to take advantage of the weather conditions, put Haryana into bat. However, rain washed out their hopes as only 45 minutes play was possible.

Umpires S Das and S Pathak called off the match as there was no possibility of play further. Openers Sumit Sharma and Chetan Sharma remained not out on eight and 18 respectively.
