Who Said What

David Warner: "Very very happy. Another difficult wicket, yesterday was really tough and we tried to take some learnings from that. Khushdil bowled fantastic. To finish it off like that was also fantastic. I kept saying to the boys to be positive.

"If you take it to the back end, the ball will get softer, won't go up and down that much and you can get these runs. It's about staying in there and assessing if you lose early wickets.

"Credit to the way the guys played. Need to win a couple more now. I always said 150 was going to be a good total, to restrict them under that was fantastic. Thankfully the boys bowled very well upfront and at the death."

Khushdil Shah | PoTM: "I'm getting to bat a little higher this season. Today there was a pressure situation and I was told to go in lower down to handle the game. I was feeling good, knew that they had a bowler missing and that a part-timer or all-rounder had to bowl the last over. I'm enjoying, the team involves me in everything. Babar is their main batter, always happy to get him out."

Babar Azam | Peshawar Zalmi captain: "We were a few runs short to be honest. The ball wasn't coming on to the bat nicely in the initial few overs. Also, I got out at the wrong time, we lost the momentum following that and we didn't finish off well.

"When you are set it becomes easier to bat on the wicket, and we were looking forward to build partnerships after getting set. That was our plan, but it did not plan out well. We have a bowling combination that is settling in pretty well, we have youngsters doing well for us. We will try to rectify out mistakes going forward."

What happened in the match?

Tension gripped the National Stadium as Karachi Kings edged past Peshawar Zalmi in a nerve-jangling affair that went right down to the wire. Tasked with chasing a sub-150 total, Karachi saw early turbulence before David Warner brought calm with a mature knock that underpinned the innings.

The early going was far from smooth for Karachi. Luke Wood ripped through the top order with venom, sending both openers back cheaply and rattling the chase before it could even begin. A short-lived counterattack by Saad Baig momentarily raised hopes, but his exit swung the momentum back Zalmi's way.

Warner, though, was a class apart. Unfazed by the wickets tumbling around him, the Australian stalwart blended patience and precision. He found gaps, rotated the strike, and punished anything loose. His presence gave Karachi a foothold as he stitched together a crucial stand with Irfan Khan. That partnership, however, was disrupted by a stunning piece of fielding that left Warner visibly dejected.

As Zalmi's spinners and pacers tightened the screws, pressure mounted. When Warner fell to a clever change of pace by Wood, the game opened up once again. What followed was a nail-biting finale.

Khushdil Shah stepped in at a critical moment and, after a shaky start, managed to find vital runs at crunch time. A timely boundary here, a composed single there-he kept the scoreboard moving. The final over brought high drama, but Khushdil's clarity and Hasan Ali's cool head under pressure ensured there was no late twist in the tale.

For Peshawar, the bowlers nearly defended a below-par total, but the batting shortcomings haunted them in the end. Karachi's resilience, epitomized by Warner's poise and Khushdil's late surge, carried them through an electrifying evening of PSL cricket.
