Ponting casts doubts on India tour

Melbourne, Sep 17 (UNI) Despite the nod from Cricket Australia for the India tour, captain Ricky Pointing today asserted that the serial bombings in New Delhi last week could still put the series in a difficult position.

''Anything could happen tomorrow, things change very quickly in the world right at the moment,'' he told mediapersons in Canberra.

Ponting further added that the team and the officials will monitor the situation with the assistance of the government ahead of their scheduled departure on Sunday.

''Cricket Australia will continue to be in touch and the government will continue to be in touch, and Cricket Australia will keep us players and the players' association in the loop on a daily, if not hourly basis,'' he added.

Yesterday, CA had confirmed that its team will go ahead with the tour of India despite a series of bombings in the New Delhi which is also the venue for the third Test match starting October 29.

Earlier, just after the blasts, CA had said it would send a review team to inspect the security situation in the country.

The 15-man Australian squad is due to leave on sunday with the first of four Tests starting in Bangalore on October 9.
