Police Commissioner takes charge of Bengal Cricket
Kolkata, Feb 1 (UNI) City Police Commissioner Prasun Mukherjee today took charge as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president and promised to spare no effort for improvement of cricket in the state.
He assumed the office of the president after CAB's special general meeting approved his post this evening.
Late last month the city police chief was elected uncontested aftter West Bengal Sports Minister Subash Chakraborty withdrew his candidature following intervention of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
Mukherjee replaced Jagmohan Dalmiya, who was forced to resign after being charged wiith misappropriation of funds by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
