PCB to take action against Afridi following a 'clash' with Talat Ali
Lahore, June 25 (UNI) Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is in danger of facing disciplinary action from the PCB following alleged ''clash'' between the big-hitting cricketer and team manager Talat Ali.
According to a report published in the 'Nation', Afridi had an almost physical clash with Talat Ali during the recent training camp at Abbottabad when the manager reportedly said Pakistan team did not have a concept of senior and junior players.
The flamboyant all rounder exchanged harsh words with Talat on this and allegedly went forward to even assault him physically.
However, other senior players, led by a pacer, intervened and stopped Afridi.
However, the manager said he did not make any formal complaint as yet and he may state it in the overall report of the camp.
''I am making my mind to report this incident but have not taken any decision as yet,'' Talat said.
Talat would submit a detailed report of the brief England tour and Abbotabad training camp after his arrival back from Glasgow.
''I will report all players' conduct in that document and may discuss this issue as well,'' he said.
He said the Board was likely to take action after submission of his report, if he requested them.
Talat, however said media has highlighted this event in negative way and some newspapers exaggerated it. ''I will not deny the event but it was not as severe as these reports made it,'' he added.
Meanwhile, a source in the PCB said yesterday, the Board was taking this affair seriously and considering punishing the player, who had violated the discipline for number of times.
''He may be called to appear before the disciplinary committee to explain his position and the authorities will then decide about the punishment,'' the source added.
However, a PCB senior official said he was yet to know any reason for this action.
''What we have learnt is that the two exchanged few words and then the player sought apology from the manager for his conduct,'' the official said, adding that the dispute had ended when the manager forgave him.
''The board did not receive anything in writing and I don't see any action until someone registers a complaint,'' said the official.
