PCB to review ban on Ilyas
Lahore, June 24 (UNI) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to review the ban imposed on former Test cricketer Mohammad Ilyas from entering Lahore's Gaddafi stadium after he tendered an apology to PCB chief Naseem Ashraf.
''The Board has decided to review the ban on him. It is no big deal and everything will be settled. Ilyas called up the Board Chairman and spoke to him and apologised for his behaviour saying it came in the heat of the moment,'' a PCB official was qouted by 'The News' as saying.
Ilyas was banned two months ago after an argument with the selectors over the omission of opening batsman Imran Farhat, his son-in-law, from the national side for the Abu Dhabi ODI series against Sri Lanka.
The official said the Board wanted to set a clear example for others when they imposed the ban on Ilyas.
''We can't have anyone confronting and demanding to know from the selectors why they had dropped a certain player.
''Anyone can show dissent with the selectors' decision but not threaten them,'' he said.
