PCB to appoint new coach by July 1

Lahore, May 8 (UNI) Pakistan will get a new cricket coach by the end of next month, PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf has announced.

Applications for the post have been invited through an advertisement on PCB's website www.pcb.com.pk and the last date of submission of the application has been fixed at May 15.

''We are in search of a qualified coach and we will be selecting the most suitable candidate with the help of our search committee and the process will be completed by July 1,'' PCB chief Nasim Ashraf told a press conference.

PCB has also forwarded this advertisement to ICC, full member countries cricket boards and other international cricket websites.

''So far four foreign coaches from different countries including England and West Indies have submitted their credentials,'' revealed the PCB Chief.

By advertising the post on website, PCB is offering full opportunity to everyone, from abroad as well as from Pakistan, to submitt their applications.

Though he declined to name the candidates who have already applied but said the process to finalise the name will be decided according to the time required.

Some former captains like Javed Miandad and Intikhab Alam have expressed objections on the process of selecting Pakistan cricket coach and have refused to apply in protest.

''We need a computer literate qualified coach and if someone has any objection to the way we are selecting a coach by advertising the post we cannot help them,'' clarified Ashraf.
