PCB to announce performance-based contracts next month

'The News' qouted PCB's Director of Operations, Zakir Khan as saying that experts were currently busy working on a new contract system and the Board would be making the formal announcement by the end of this month.

''The Board is working on finalising a new central contract system for the players with the help of experts and we would announce it next month,'' said Zakir.

Earlier, in the aftermath of the Caribbean World Cup, the PCB had suspended the central contracts of 20 players to issue a new performance-based contracts.

The Pakistani board has even decided to take overseas help to finalise a more transparent contract system. It has also obtained copies of contracts issued by their Australian, Indian, South African and English counterparts.

But he gave enough indication that some players who were included in the previous list could find their names excluded as a few fresh faces would be inducted in the new one.
