PCB sack 80 employees to pave the way for 'right men'
Lahore, Apr 17 (UNI) In a major revamping step, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sacked as many as 80 employees, including 11 high officials and 69 lower grade employees.
According to the 'Dawn', PCB has released the names of the high officials who have been removed from their office yesterday, but it did not provide the list of the affected lower grade employees.
''A total of 80 number of employees from the existing set-up (a mix of all categories, permanent, contractual and daily wages at all managements levels) are being relieved from their positions with severance pay,'' said PCB's newly appointed chief operating officer (COO), Shafqat Hussain Naghmi.
''PCB acknowledges the service of all these (sacked) employees during their stay with the board and wishes them good luck in their future,'' he said, adding that the exercise was aimed to restructure the board on corporate lines, ensuring right men for the right job and not to cut down expenditure.
However, the newly appoinyted COO clarified that the decision was taken under the light of the recommendations of a human resource company.
''In order to go about the proposed restructuring in an objective and fair manner, the Ferguson Associates conducted a complete HR and management audit through a job-by-job analysis and then compared the same with other cricket Boards such as Australia and South Africa,'' Mr Naghmi said.
He, however, assured that all future appointments of the board will be made under the new policy and will be based only on merit.
