PCB does U turn: Reinstates 69 lower-grade employees, others joble
Lahore, Apr 19 (UNI) Bowing to pressure, the Pakistan Cricket Board did a volte-face by reinstating all the 69 lower-grade employees it sacked on 'humanitarian' grounds but the other 11 high-ranking officials who are still left with no job are reportedly mulling legal options agaisnt PCB.
''The PCB chairman has taken the decision of reinstatement on purely humanitarian grounds but the decision of sacking 11 high-ranking officials will stand,'' a PCB spokesman announced.
According to sources in the board, the sacked 11 officials were preparing to move the court against PCB, 'Dawn' reported.
In a major revamp, the PCB had sacked 80 employees including 69 working in the lower cadre and 11 high-ranking officials on Monday to pave the way for ensuring ''right men for the right job on corporate lines''.
The newly-appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Board Shafqat Hussain Naghmi had then clarified that the decision to sack the employees were taken under recommendations of Ferguson Associates, a human resource company.
The spokesman further said all the sacked employees were working either on contractual basis or daily wages and their new contracts would be signed soon without any break in their services.
Majority of the sacked employees had gathered at the PCB office when chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf arrived here yesterday and demanded immediate restoration of their services following which the chairman assured them that he would do his best for them.
The PCB also announced that there was no plan for further retrenchment in the board.
