Patiala well placed in Punjab Inter-Dist Cricket

Patiala, May 25 (UNI) Patiala recovered from early blows to be in a comfortable position, scoring a respectable 290, against Mohali in the Punjab Inter-District Cricket (under-19) for Dhruve Pandove Trophy on the opening day here.

Patiala won the toss and elected to bat first. Initially they were in serious trouble when they were reduced to 30 for four.

Mohali paceman Jaskaran did the initial damage. But the fifth wicket partnership between Amitoj Singh and Robin Dhillon of 119 runs of 246 balls halted the slide, before being bowled out 94.5 overs.

Amitoj scored a breezy 85 in 162 balls while Robin Dhillon scored a painstaking 50 in 165 balls to take Patiala in a safe position. It was then Amarpreet Singh (55) and Sahil Sachdeva (55) who propped up the innings in great style to take away the initiative from Mohali.

For Mohali, Jaskaran bowled exceedingly well to take 4 for 58, while Harpreet took 3 for 59 and Ayush 2 for 39.

Tomorrow will be the crucial day when Mohali's batsmen will test the formidable Patiala's bowling attack.
