Patiala in strong position in Punjab inter-distt cricket

Patiala, May 28 (UNI) A swashbuckling knock of 88 by all-rounder Mohit Mohindra put Patiala in a strong position against Bathinda in the Punjab Inter-District (Under-19) Cricket tournament for Dhruve Pandove Trophy here today.

Bathinda won the toss and elected to field. Taking advantage of the perfect batting strip, Patiala piled up a mammoth total of 298 in 85.4 overs before being all out. Mohit Mohindra was in his elements and played with tremendous authority to punish the Bathinda bowlers in his breezy knock,hitting 11 fours while facing 151 balls.

Amarpreet Singh Bains was the other Patiala batsman who played the Bathinda bowlers with great ease. He scored 78 in a masterly fashion, hitting eight fours and a six, while facing 172 balls.

Amitoj Singh too scored freely in his fine knock of 63 in which he hit 13 fours.

For Bathinda, medium pacer Rajkamal Dhillon bowled his heart out to capture 6 wickets, giving away 86 runs. Sandeep Kumar took 3 for 51.

In reply, Bathinda were 16 for one wicket in seven overs. Nakul Chopra and Ramesh Inder Singh were unbeaten on 7 runs apiece at close of play.
