Pakistan to rely on local hosts and ICC for security

Lahore, Mar 04 (UNI) With security being the prime concern of every team in the Caribbeans, Pakistan has decided to rely on local authorities for security of their cricketers, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said.

''Like most other competing nations, we would be relying on the local authorities for security measures during the World Cup,'' PCB's Director Communications Dr Ahsan Malik told The News.

He said that no special security arrangements have been made available to the Pakistan team in the Caribbean.

Dr Ahsan exuded confidence over the local World Cup hosts and the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the issue of security of their cricketers in the island nation.

However, acting on a report that terror groups could target the mega event, the Indian authorities are taking no chances and have deployed a 16 member National Security Guard (NSG) commando team for the security cover of their cricketers following a formal request from the West Indian authorities.
