Pakistan Super League trophy to be unveiled in Dubai

Bengaluru, February 19: The wait for Pakistan cricket fans is over. The third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to kick off from February 22. Ahead of the opening match, the trophy will be unveiled in a glittering ceremony in Dubai on Tuesday (February 20). The trophy will be unveiled at the Dubai International Stadium.
According to reports, the trophy will be brought into the venue by a helicopter and from there the leaders of the PSL teams will collect it. The trophy will later be carry by Darren Sammy, the skipper of defending champions Peshawar Zalmi skipper to the ceremony.
The ceremoy will be a glitzy affair with the managements and owners of the PSL franchises present, along with some of the main officers from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Later, the opening ceremony for the tournament will be held on February 22, ahead of the first match between champs Peshawar Zalmi and debutants of Pakistan Multan Sultans.
Several matches are being held at the Dubai International Stadium and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the tickets for these matches are still up for grabs. Following this the tournament will shift to Karachi and Lahore for the latter part of the league from March 20.
The PSL is growing in popularity and moreover a new team has been added this year. The addition of Multan Sultans will make the league a six-team event. The team will be mentored by Wasim Akram.
Not only will we witness several Pakistan national players, but also several international stars. The foreign players in the tournament include the likes of Andre Russell, Luke Ronchi, Ravi Bopara, Morgan, Darren Sammy, Chris Jordan, Kevin Pietersen and Shane Watson.
Starting Thursday Dubai will host 12 matches until March 18, out of which 13 will be held at Sharjah starting from February 28 to March 4 and then March 13 to 16.
